Culture is one of the hardest factors to measure but one of the most important long term. During visits, observe how staff greet residents, how concerns are handled, and whether communication feels respectful. Ask staff how they support new residents in the first two weeks and what happens when someone is distressed. Look for consistency between what management promises and what frontline staff describe. A strong culture usually shows up in small daily behaviours, not marketing language. Choosing a home with a healthy culture can reduce later conflict and improve quality of life.
